As the first day of 2014 went by quickly, this question came to my mind.

It’s very tempting to write a whole list of resolutions to transform your lifestyle or personality, but I know for myself that it’s just an exercise to put words on paper.

I’ve come to realise that people don’t really change. They just become better or poorer versions of themselves.

Just like how we won’t reforge a sword into another tool simply because it’s dull. We will sharpen it and keep it in balance.

I’m not sure about you, but I don’t want to change who I really am, just because everyone else is following the latest fad or fancy. I definitely won’t want to wear a mask and look like everyone else. In the same sense, I wouldn’t want to drag my feet and start losing my voice or identity in the crowd.

So in 2014, I will choose to eat healthy and exercise because I am responsible for myself, not because of reports from dieticians or doctors. I will learn and develop myself because I want to increase my capacity to serve others. I will give more than I take because that’s what I’ve always believed in. The list goes on… but I’m not changing.

I’m just becoming a better me.
